    CAR1, also known as Constitutive Androstane Receptor, binds and transactivates the retinoic acid response that controls both retinoic acid receptor beta 2 and alcohol dehydrogenase 3 gene expression. CAR1 also transactivates phenobarbital response of human CYP2B6 gene and the CYP3A4 xenobiotic response element.
